R&D Data Scientist - Full Time - Winterthur, Switzerland

Join our Technology & Innovation team within Sulzer Chemtech in Winterthur, Switzerland as R&D Data scientist to help us take digital innovation to the next level. You will help drive our digitalization strategy by leading and delivering data-driven solutions to accelerate our ambitious, sustainable growth agenda.

 

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities:  

 

  • Design and implement data-driven initiatives for product and process R&D.
  • Combine data science, statistic with domain experience to facilitate data-driven decision making.
  • Work closely with cross-functional project teams to develop digital & data science solutions.
  • Develop insights from complex datasets, generate data-driven hypotheses, design experiments and drive the development of optimized products and process solutions.
  • Design and implement data-driven/digital tools for advanced analytics, predictive algorithms, and data visualization.
  • Communicate actionable insights using data to a diverse audience across all levels of the organization.
  • Be an ambassador for driving a data-driven mindset across the organization.

 

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

 

  • PhD in Chemical or Process Engineering (or similar) with relevant domain experience. 
  • Strong background in data science and hands-on experience in applying data-driven/statistical learning methodologies to chemical process/product development is a must have.
  • Industrial experience in data science/modeling in the chemical process industry with is a big advantage.
  • Experience in programming languages such as python, R and data science toolkits.
  • Additional experimental background in relevant domains is a plus.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with experimentalists and cross-functional teams.
  • Bold thinker, proactive, collaborative, solution-oriented, "doer" mindset.
  • Experience in identifying data science opportunities based on business needs.
  • Knowledge of software development best practices, database management and agile methodologies.
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken.
